Economic Sustainability
Our projects must be affordable for the community to maintain long-term. Parts must be affordable, easily obtainable, and there must be a financial plan to raise the funds necessary to upkeep the project. Cultural Sustainability Our projects are of importance to the community. We do not tell the community what projects we think they need; rather, we allow the community to determine the issue that is most pressing to them. |
Tabuga The community of Tabuga is situated in the Manabí Province on the Pacific coast of Ecuador - directly west of Quito - and is home to about 530 people, comprised primarily of subsistence farmers. Tabuga is the location of our initial Tabuga Water Project. We do not currently have a project located here. Camarones The Camarones Water Project takes place in a neighboring community, a few miles inland from Tabuga. Camarones is similar in population to Tabuga, but is spread over a much larger area and varies much more in elevation. It is also more difficult to access, as it is situated on a dirt road off the highway and requires multiple river crossings. |
